This painting is based on a dream I had (and is appropriately part of my growing "Dream Series"). There wasn't too much to the dream I just dreamt that I was painting this highly detailed image and it gave me feelings of hidden magic, divine nature and feminine power with old wisdom that's associated with ancient forests. It looks like maybe she's summoning something, but I'm still not sure what it is (it's her secret I suppose, I'm just the painter). There's some kind of stone wall beside her; maybe an old celtic ruin, and it's been overtaken by vines. The old green man is present for her ritual and watches you close, as he knows what souls are friends of the forest and it's secrets and those who are not. The Queen is wise and deep, older than time but with a youthful glow that only comes to the purest of benevolent souls. She takes watch over the forest and all it's creatures and secrets. She so devotedly enmeshes with her surroundings that flowers and leaves willingly grow straight from her hair. She is tough and strong like the great redwood but feminine and fluid like a willow. She carries herself with grace, empathy and healing wherever she goes. You may never ever encounter her, like a blue mist that you see from a distance but dissipates when you come close, she manifests with mysticism and mystery. You may be lucky enough to feel her presence however; when you go to a particularly lush and green part of the woods, with life teeming, old and new growth alike and you feel a calm and wonderment wash over you, and time stands still, this is her sacred presence gracing you. She encourages you to leave your troubles behind and immerse yourself in nature. I used water from the clearest most beautiful part of the San Lorenzo river to paint this, as to infuse my favorite location in the woods right into it with the very spirit of nature. There are many (tiny) hidden things in this forest scene that you have to search up close to find.

A dedicated, passionate oil painter, watercolorist and dreamer. I have been an artist for longer than I can remember and I am still learning new things everyday and gaining newfound understanding with each work of art.
My work is typically inspired by nature, the supernatural, other realms and magic, feminine energy, the moon, mythology, historical and world cultures and my own wild, vivid dreams that my brain cooks up each time I sleep! ;)
I was born among the ancient coastal redwood forests in a small town where rivers, wildlife and spiritual people run free. This love and bond with natural beauty is reflected in my imagination and artistic inclination.
I never run out of ideas, and I instead find myself running to keep up with them as they pour in by the dozens each day!
I am currently working on a dream series, a goddess series and one other mini series. I also take pet portrait commissions and a small amount of other commissions per year.
Stay tuned because there is always more to come.
I sincerely hope you enjoy my art as much as I enjoy making it.
