Corne Akkers

My work can be seen in many countries all over the world. I employ a variety of styles that all have one thing in common: the ever search for the light on phenomena and all the shadows and light planes they block in. My favorites in doing so are oil paint, dry pastel and graphite pencil. It is not the form or the theme that counts but the way planes of certain tonal quality vary and block in the lights. Colours are relatively unimportant and can take on whatever scheme. It is the tonal quality that is ever present in my work, creating the...

    Description

Model session 2 @ Rotterdam - 20-10-17 Another 15 min. sketch I made at the same session of October 15th during a live model session at Rotterdam. This is also pastel on Pastelmat. I was not sure about the colour saturation because applying higly saturated pigments can easily lead to inflation, so today I tuned down some parts. This is the same model like the previous pastel. I consider this one also to be expressionist of nature, although there is lots of clairobscur. I'm not very sure yet how to call this style but that is not the task of an artist. Pastel drawing on Clairefontaine Pastemal paper (30 x 40 x 0.1 cm) Artist: Corné Akkers
