Dr David Gerber, MD, MHSc, FRCS(C), is a renowned gynecologist who specializes in labiaplasty (labia reduction surgery). With over two decades of experience in the field, he began his medical career as a family doctor in rural Manitoba and Alberta before transitioning to gynecology in 1997. He received his medical degree from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa and completed his internship in Cape Town. He then spent a year in a large rural hospital in the underprivileged area of Ciskei, South Africa, where he gained experience in Internal Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology. He went on to receive specialized training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, followed by a subspecialty in Incontinence Surgery in Toronto. In 2004, he obtained a Masters in Health Sciences in Bioethics from the University of Toronto.
Dr. Gerber's academic gynecology practice at Sunnybrook and Women’s College Health Science Centre in Toronto has focused on minimally invasive surgery, colposcopy, and emergency gynecology. He is an expert in minimally invasive clinic-based surgery for a variety of conditions, including fibroids, heavy vaginal bleeding, vulva disease, and precancerous lesions of the vulva, vagina, and cervix (abnormal pap tests). Dr. Gerber has also developed a successful micro-surgical technique for labia reduction surgery and is widely recognized as a valuable resource for patients with this condition.
