"Open Sesame" (French: Sésame, ouvre-toi) is a magical phrase in the story of "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves" in One Thousand and One Nights. It opens the mouth of a cave in which forty thieves have hidden a treasure. Sesame or sesame is a plant grown for its seeds rich in oil, which are currently used for hamburger breads. In the past there were extensive sesame plantations throughout the Arab territory. The sesame seeds were still picked green, so that they were rich in oil. However, taking the seeds of this plant was only possible when they fell by themselves from the dried sesame pods, which could take quite some time.
