While wandering the Carnegie Museum of Art, I stopped and sat on a bench outside another gallery while I waited for the family catch up. That particular gallery had partitions of varying colors. As I looked into the gallery, the combination of partitions and the stark white bench was the perfect inspiration for this piece. This was a piece where I wanted to present the space in 2D. The shadow from the sculpture stand is the only indication that it's a 3D space. From there it's easy to visualize. it ends up as a tongue-in-cheek mid-century piece.
