This is inspired by Mughal miniature paintings. It is 20 x 18 inches clay plus acrylic on canvas. It shows a royal courtesan all set for a performance before the king and/or his court. Most Mughal miniature paintings depict the scenes inside Mughal palaces. These were made during the Mughal dynasty in India, most of them were made in Rajasthan. The Mughals were great patrons of art and the artists flourished during that era. Don’t miss the royal opulence here. Look at the carpet embroidered in silver, the courtesan's costume which would have been embroidered in gold if especially she was the king’s favorite, her jewelry made of heavy gemstones and the exquisite chandelier. You can find exquisite collections of such items on display in many royal palaces and museums in India. I have used handmade clay at some parts of the painting to add depth to the paintingHey there,
As you can see from my portfolio, I am an artist from India. As far as paintings are concerned, i usually paint subjects related to traditional Indian art or those related to nature and wildlife.
My art comprises all types of media- oil, acrylic l, clay, mixed media and glass colors, painted on paper or canvas. My passion for traditional Indian art and nature is what is reflected in my art and you can call these my muses as well. I started painting way back in 1989, but after a few works, there was a long gap due to career and professional commitments as also my increasing focus on wildlife photography, which i started in earnest in 2009, though i was learning the ropes since 2004.
Having completed a large part of my professional career now, has rekindled my love for art and i now endeavor to find time for painting as well as wildlife photography. My love for nature and wildlife have in fact provided me inspiration for paintings as well. I will also add some of my photographs to the portfolio shortly.
I hope you like my work and keep watching my profile for new works. I would love to hear your feedback about my work.
