This bushy tree is found in jungle areas of the Northern Territory behind beach sand dunes. Its leaves are dark green and oval shaped with a soft furry underside. Flowers are small and bell-shaped and occur from October to November signaling the start of the wet season. Fruit occurs mainly from April to May and earlier in some areas. They are purple, long, oval shaped and eaten raw when ripe. They have a sweet taste and are a popular fruit.
