Yecheskel Schwab Lakewood is an up-and comming artist from Lakewood, Ohio. Many of his photographs portray Lakewood and its beautiful and rugged shores. His ability to create intensity of colour in the photography medium and his attention to the subtleties of light are trademarks of his increasingly popular work.
In school, Yecheskel developed an appreciation for the human form, both in motion and at rest. His unique vision of art has been shaped by this contrast in interests. He pursued his art education at NYU in NYC where he received his BFA after surrendering to his art.
Yecheskel uses art as a platform to speak without telling you anything. He provides a platform for thinking and debating- because, for him, art resides not in the objects, pictures, paintings or films, but in what is said about them and what is debated about them. Rather than answering why he makes things the way he does, he asks the world why things are the way they are.
While all his work has its basis in photography, Yecheskel Schwab seeks to emulate their evocations of beauty and color by digitally manipulating images to arrive at an aesthetic effect born in what was, perhaps, a simpler time, through the extraordinary power and sophistication of the computer. He would like to think that thus he may present a gently ironic critique of technology, which has given us so much, but simultaneously threatens to destroy our home.
Yecheskel uses only professional grade papers and inks. The papers are a mat finish which enhances the painting-like quality of the picture The inks used are from a printer that uses 6-7 different ink cartridges which sprays on the ink, chemically bonding it to the paper for a vibrant color-lasting picture.
