Dazzling Artists and Artwork at The Cynthia Corbett Gallery Exhibit at Texas Contemporary Art Show 2015

Last week, at the Texas Contemporary Art Show, hosted at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston Texas, we had the absolute pleasure of meeting Ms. Cynthia Corbett, director of The Cynthia Corbett Gallery ( www.thecynthiacorbettgallery.com  ), located in London, Great Britain.  The gallery is an international contemporary art gallery, and represents artists around the world.  Ms. Corbett is not only a world leading authority and expert on art, but also a remarkably gracious and sincere person, with whom we had the distinct pleasure of conversing and learning about the artists she represents, and their art.  She went out of her way to not only be extremely courteous to the many visitors who were intrigued with the stunning works she displayed, but she made sure that each visitor understood the background of each piece, the meaning and history of the art piece and  of the artist who created it, and she left no questions which were asked of her unanswered. The fact that art is a life passion and mission of hers is clearly demonstrated.  There is no question that any artist who shows their work in her gallery is fortunate to have such a wonderful advocate as Ms. Corbett.

All of the artists’ works which The Cynthia Corbett Gallery shows are profound and radiant to the viewer.  At the Texas Contemporary Art Show, we were mesmerized by the works of two of her celebrated artists, Lluis Barba and Tom Leighton.  Lluis Barba’s “Gallery of Views of Modern Rome,” a Perspex mounted C type print, created in 2012, can only be described as sublime, mystical, imaginative and impassioned.  After gazing at this work, we had difficulty moving our eyes away from it, and found ourselves returning back to the work several times, only to appreciate another ethereal detail which we hadn’t noticed earlier.

We were also visually magnetized by the evocative and thought provoking work of renowned artist Tom Leighton, whose art work “7th Avenue,” a Perspex/aluminum C type print, was created in 2013. This engrossing and inspiring work of art is vibrant and infused with energy and life, and has been created in a stunning symmetry, with the diametrically opposed right and left sides of the work giving our eyes and minds an explosive treat.

The Cynthia Corbett Gallery in London, recognized as one of the finest art galleries in the world, and showing their work at some of the most prestigious art exhibitions internationally (including Miami, the Hamptons, Palm Springs, New York, San Francisco, Toronto, Houston, Basel, London, and others)  has built an impeccable reputation over the years, due to the wonderful vision, leadership and passion of its director, Ms. Cynthia Corbett, who herself has a very eclectic taste in art.  The gallery has had numerous six-figure art sales at a recent fair.   Several of the many highly acclaimed artists whose work she shows are Andy Burgess, Deborah Azzopardi, Klari Reis, Charles Moxon, and others, in addition to artists Tom Leighton and Lluis Barba, mentioned earlier in this review.  Ms. Corbett is also dedicated to helping young artists grow, and in 2009 she launched the Young Masters Art Prize ( https://youngmastersartprize.wordpress.com/ ), a non-profit competition which “celebrates artistic skill and innovation with awareness of the Old Masters and the art of the past.”  Clearly, the success which surrounds Ms. Corbett, her gallery, and her artists, can be attributed to her excellent command of art, her warm and nurturing personality, her compassion, humility and generosity in helping artists (both young and mature) at all stages of their career, and her savvy skills as a business woman.  Artists whose work she shows are fortunate to have such a visionary champion leader on their side, and customers of her galleries are fortunate to have such an experienced, knowledgeable, honest and ethical representative on their side.  Ms. Corbett has stated “the most important rule when buying art is only to buy what you love and connect with.” To this, we respond, that this would include virtually all of the works of art in her gallery.
